Within the first four months of an infant's life, breast milk is vital. After an infant attains the age of four months, you can start putting him or her on formula. A child who is eight months can be fed on semi-solid meals and gradually taken off breast milk In other words, weaned. It's a good thing to follow this if you want your baby to grow up strong and healthy.

Sleeping with your baby on the same bed can increase the risk of strangulation or suffocation. If you put your baby to sleep face down on the bed, you may cause him or her suffocate. Statistically, sudden infant death syndrome is more prevalent in America than in other countries.

When considering a day care, you will want to make sure that the person you leave your child with has the qualifications to care for your child. Daycare centers are constantly decreasing in qualified staff that are capable of handling kids because of poor salary conditions. Be careful and avoid such day care centers. It's the safety of your child we are talking about here, so you should spend a good amount of time to find the best day care center. Your lovely little child deserves nothing but the best, don't you think so?

Weaning is a process of feeding your baby on semi-solids and gradually taking him or her off breast milk. You can start feeding your baby on solids when he or she is between four to six months. Baby solids include fruits, vegetables and mashed meat.

Don't abandon the care of your child to day care centers completely as that will create an imbalance in your child's development. Make sure that you supervise your child from time to time while they are in day care to ensure that they are getting the best of care.
