There was a time when job recruitment was not so easy. It used to involve so many steps. Now with the new trend of technological change online recruitment has become the pillar of the staffing strategy for the big or small firms. Job seekers are also turning to the online version of newspapers, magazine, and company’s websites. They also take resort to search engines to find out the best suitable job vacancy for them. Likewise the employers firms are also using the strategy of online recruitment either by themselves or allot the work of recruitment to the recruitment solutions.
While the scope, ease and comfort of the online easy recruitment process is expanding by leaps and bounds but nobody knows the implications of this recruitment strategy. The internet based recruitment process has increased mainly after 2000. The restriction imposed on the labor market and the IT sector has facilitated the expansion of online search of a job and recruitment. At present it has become the touch stone of millions of the candidates seeking job. This trend has benefitted the websites enormously. Corporate companies are always willing to give advertisements for their vacancies on these websites and so the websites hosts a number of advertisements earning huge revenue for that.
So far as the advantages of this new trend of easy recruitment are that it has increased the degree of recruitment and fastened the process of recruitment management. It has helped devised a more standard approach of flat fee recruitment. Now there is need of manual works such as coding, sorting, filling and routing the applications. All these functions are performed automatically. In the pre internet ear the time taken in the whole recruitment process was almost triple the time online recruitment takes. The reduced time and cost due to online recruitment has contributed a lot to the enhancement of growth and development of the big and small firms.
But there are certain disadvantages too of online recruitment. There are some potential drawbacks in this process. Internet is still elusive for a vast population of the world better known as digital divide. Hence recruiters are able to access only convent educated modern guys techno-savvy guys many of whom are not worth so what they know internet surfing. On the other hand firms have no choice and are destined to trust the application submitted online. Hence they just assess the applicants in the very first instance as it used to happen when candidates would come to submit their applications.
