You can talk all you want but rehab has had a positive impact on the American society. Many guys would have just gone off the deep end with alcohol if they had not had the convenience of an alcohol treatment center to help them through.
Ever tried to keep a bottle from a drunk? Don't. You might not very much live to tell an exciting tale. This picture should give you an idea of what orderlies have to deal with in an alcohol treatment center when withdrawal symptoms hit their in-patients.
Alcoholics are worse than lunatics, or at least just as bad. Many people might find this hard swallow, but why else would we have a 'reform' center for them. And I can assure you the attendants in there might appear meek and agreeable, but they do have a mean streak like you have never seen. You don't want to find out.
When caught on a rap for disturbing the peace you are bound to be asked to pay a healthy fine. Following this, the judge could ask you to do some community service, and if there is a drunkenness charge to boot, you could end up in jail, or an alcohol treatment center, if you're lucky.
It matters little if you walked in by your own self, or if you were ordered in by the law, alcohol treatment centers treat all cases the same. No drinking is no drinking, and loitering is forbidden. As a matter of fact, they have one strict regimen in there, and there is no breaking it.
Laugh it off if you like but there is nothing funny about being in an alcohol treatment center. They deprive you of so many things that you begin to wonder if you are still human. Yet it is all for the greater good. And if you happen to fall back into the habit, one wonders if it was all worth it.
I was not always this calm, you know. Once upon a time I was mean, and I consumed anything that a bottle held. But after a few brushes with the law, and some time in a rehabilitation center, I have broken the trend and am now sober.
Alcohol treatment centers were probably made popular by the celebrities who constantly frequent these places. They are meant mainly to help people rediscover themselves after harrowing experiences under the influence, but today their services have extended to other fields such as narcotics. Well, why not? They are the same thing more or less, aren't they?
