Depression and denial are never far from each other. The problem with denial is that you don’t face up to the fact that you have a problem, so that when things begin to happen to you, you seem to be unsure of why they happen. Eventually, you could do yourself some bodily harm and blame everyone but yourself… because you denied from the onset that you had depression.
Bipolar disorder is a kind of depression, although a lot of people think of it as a symptom of extreme depression. It is sometimes called manic-depressive illness and you are suffering from it when your swings go back and forth between this depression and something close to madness. Now you know this is not something you want to live with.
Depression is common enough as a regular mood that hits once it a while. Some call it the blues, but not when it is the serious type. That is the type of depression that becomes bipolar or manic depression; that is the type of depression that people get admitted into hospital for. The most important tip for depression always is this – don’t let it linger in your mind for too long. When you feel a problem is getting out of hand, seek help!
Mostly, women suffer more from depression and its symptoms than men do. Due to the secretion of the estrogen hormone during ovulation, menstruation, and even with the coming of age, it's like they just switch between moods all the time. And depression is one of those moods.
Readings from various research sources indicate that depression is more rampant in modern day than it was in the last century. For some reason, people are being more worried and sad as the days go by. This is not in the United States alone in fact; it is a thing that has been observed all over the world. But of course, anyone can do something about depression – they can choose to fight and win the war against depression, rather than allow it to win.
Women and men both get depressed, but not in the same way, as you might find if you spoke with an expert. Even without speaking to an expert, you would understand that with them having to deal with so many hormonal activities all the time, ladies are more prone to being depressed. The only thing left is for them to learn how to handle it, which they do quite well.
People with depression tend to sleep for fewer hours than most others around them. Much of the time, you might find that you are not getting enough sleep even though you have been in bed for hours. And then you’d probably wake up and feel like you have not slept at all.
With depression, you could feel energetic or you may feel sluggish and inactive. Sometimes you could find yourself pacing without reason; otherwise you could be experiencing great fatigue. The bottom line is that you lack concentration and most likely you will be unable to do anything about it. That is where you need a friend around to help you help yourself.
